Due to numerous social changes such as the aging of society, the decreasing birth rate, and the increasing number of nuclear families, the demands for social welfare and related services are becoming diversified. Many people facing difficult life challenges need welfare services as well as various social connections. Accordingly, there is an urgent need to increase the number of social workers who are equipped with the practical skills necessary to give advice and support concerning welfare issues to people who need them.
To help foster the next generation of social workers, this department encourages student development in areas of specialization based on theories and practical skills of social work. Students make sense of human rights and learn techniques for providing consultation and assistance. To this end, the department offers curricula enabling students to acquire the abilities required for social work including values, knowledge and skills needed to support various people regardless of their age or physical and mental condition.
