Present-day society is considered an “isolated society”with weak “interpersonal bonds.” Combined with the declining birthrate, aging population and underpopulation of rural areas, people’s daily life problems have become more serious, multifaceted and complex. To solve these problems, it is essential to consider individuals, communities and society in an integrated way applying expert and multi-faceted perspectives covering various fields, in collaboration and cooperation with the related people and organizations.
The Department of Social Welfare aims to develop human resources who will contribute to the “development and realization of a society where people accept diversity and live while helping each other” and the “revitalization of regional society and community development” who can handle various issues facing people, regions and societies in the modern society by cultivating communication, analysis, design, support, planning and implementation, and research skills from an interdisciplinary viewpoint with the study of social welfare at the core.
