Hokusei Gakuen University established it first partner-school affiliation with Lewis & Clark College (Oregon, U.S.A.) in 1965, just three years after Hokusei was founded. Since then, Hokusei has been supporting and expanding international study programs for its own students and for students from abroad. To date, Hokusei has sent more than 750 students abroad to study at partner schools. At the same time, more than 1,500 students from our partner schools have studied at Hokusei either as exchange students or on short-term programs. Hokusei will continue to encourage students to go abroad and learn about the world by experiencing the world.
Hokusei believes that the success of its international exchange program lies in several key points.
★ Tuition: Students pay tuition only to their home institution while studying abroad.
★ Academics: In addition to a full range of Japanese language courses, Hokusei offers content courses taught in English.
★ Flexibility: Students can study for one semester or one full year.
★ Accommodations: On-campus dormitory or homestay with a Japanese family.
★ Location: As Japan’s fifth largest city and the capital of Hokkaido, Sapporo offers all the conveniences of a modern city while being surrounded by nature. Hokusei’s campus is located an easy subway ride from downtown Sapporo.
